Murray Etherington

Murray is the head of our the Private Client department and works with clients across Scotland to help manage their personal affairs and plan for the future. 

He deals with all aspects of general private client work including Executries, Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts, Asset Protection and Inheritance Tax Planning.

Morna Coutts

Morna is partner in our Edinburgh Office and has more than 20 years’ experience advising on private client matters.

She has a broad practice, but specialises in asset protection advice for high net worth individuals and their families, with particular expertise in advising farmers and landowners, business owners and lottery winners.

Megan Maclean

Megan is an Associate in our Private client team in Edinburgh. She advises individuals and families on a range of issues including succession planning, trust and executry administration and asset protection. She also advises on Powers of Attorney and Will drafting.

Megan studied law at the University of Abertay, graduating in 2011 and receiving her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Dundee in 2013. She joined Thorntons as a trainee solicitor in May 2014 and qualified in June 2016. 

Lisa Hainey

Lisa graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2005 and went on obtain her Diploma in Legal Practice from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2006. She commenced her traineeship with Thorntons later that year and qualified in 2008. 

Graeme Dickson

With over 15 years’ experience, Graeme is a key member of the Private Client team in Edinburgh and Glasgow. He advises individuals and families on a wide range of issues including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries, inheritance tax planning and asset protection. He holds the prestigious STEP (Solicitors Trust and Estate Practitioner) qualification.

Graeme’s expertise along with his considerate and sensitive approach, ensures he can help clients through all stages of their life including through the very difficult times of loss and bereavement. 

Bruce Renfrew

A key player in the legal team based at our office in Perth, Bruce has more than 25 years experience in dealing with all types of property transactions.

Advising a diverse client base, Bruce is well-respected for his expertise and his clients welcome his down-to-earth, practical approach. Bruce can also advise clients on matters relating to their personal affairs such as Wills, Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax planning. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Planners and is a Trustee of the Gannochy Trust, one of the largest charitable trusts in Scotland.

Anne McKeown

Anne is a key member of the firm’s team within Angus, working between our Forfar and Montrose Offices. An experienced Private Client practitioner, Anne’s particular areas of interest are Wills, Powers of Attorney, executries and guardianships. Anne also has significant experience in the areas of Family Law and liquor licensing.
