Thorntons Appoints New Partner

Thorntons is delighted to announce they are strengthening their team in Dundee with the appointment of new Partner.

Private Client lawyer Murray Etherington will join the firm on Monday 4 November following five years at the firm of Lindsays, formerly Shield & Kyd

Murray will join partners Nick Barclay and Grant Johnson in the legal firm's Yeaman Shore offices advising clients on all matters regarding their personal affairs such as Wills, winding up estates, Trusts and Inheritance Tax Planning.

Murray said: "I am looking forward to joining such a well-respected firm as Thorntons. The Private Client team is one of the most experienced in the country and the firm as a whole has a huge wealth of knowledge and skill. I am delighted to be joining such a reputable and forward-thinking organisation."

Scott Milne, joint managing partner at Thorntons, said: "On behalf of everyone in the firm I am delighted to welcome Murray to our team.

"He has a solid understanding of the needs of clients and he will make an excellent addition to our Private Client department. He operates in a sector which is increasingly important to clients who need to plan for the future and protect their assets for their own benefit and to ensure their estate passes to the next generation intact at the appropriate time."

Educated in Dumbarton, in the West of Scotland, Murray moved to Dundee to study law at the University of Dundee.

He completed his traineeship at Pagan Osborne, in 2006, before moving to Turcan Connell the following year. He joined Shield and Kyd in 2008 and was appointed partner in 2010. He retained his role when the firm merged and became Lindsays, in 2012.

This is the third partner appointment at Thorntons in the last six months.
