Rugby team's try for Will Month

Rugby team’s try for Will Month Thorntons launches annual charity Wills campaign A local rugby team has pitched in to help Tayside law firm, Thorntons, launch its annual Charity Wills Campaign.

The campaign, which takes place in November, aims to highlight the importance of drawing up a Will. Thorntons donates its fees from all Wills created or updated throughout the month to charity.

Last year, the firm raised a record breaking £22,000 for Cash for Kids – the largest amount it has ever handed over to a cause during Wills Month.

Cash for Kids is called on to support hundreds of children across Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and North Fife. The charity helps with buying specialist equipment for children with physical disabilities, respite for families with a chronically ill child, as well as helping to fund play schemes and outings for young carers.

Players from Dundee High FP Rugby Club were the first to offer their support, with players coming down to Thorntons' office at Yeaman Shore in Dundee to help the firm launch its campaign.

Alan Brown, captain of the team, said: "We are really pleased to be supporting Thorntons' Annual Will Month. It's a great cause which raises thousands for some of Tayside's most vulnerable children, and at the same time, promotes the importance of having a will.

"I would urge everyone, no matter what age you are, to consider going along to a Thorntons' office to organise a will this November. You never know what lies ahead, so there really is no better time than the present."

Thorntons first ran its Charity Wills campaign in 1996 and has raised more than £160,000 throughout the past 17 years.

Grant Johnson, partner at Thorntons, said: "We are thrilled to again launch our Charity Wills Campaign in partnership with Radio Tay.

"Cash for Kids is a fantastic local cause and we want to raise as much money for the charity whilst also stressing the importance of having a Will.

"Many people don't realise how vital a Will is, especially when it can help avoid issues such as extra costs, delays and family disputes after your passing.

"It is important that your wishes are respected, so I would encourage everyone to get behind this year's campaign and raise funds for a brilliant cause at the same time." If you would like to take part and make a Will this November and help Cash for Kids click here.
