Emma Horne

Emma joined the Edinburgh Private Client team with a wealth of experience in areas such as drafting of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts, Trust administration, Estate and Tax Planning for clients and their families, Guardianship and preparation of Adults with Incapacity specialist reports.

Emma brings a special understanding of certain aspects of the work undertaken by the team having had an earlier career as a Nurse in Critical Care.

Law firm reaches £500k fundraising milestone for Cash for Kids

Thorntons took its annual Charity Wills Campaign online for 2020 and with the November campaign raising £60,000 for Cash for Kids, it means the total campaign fundraising pot has surpassed £500,000 since Charity Wills began more than 20 years ago.

Cash for Kids is set to receive a considerable five figure sum once again this year from Thorntons Solicitors as the beneficiary of the firm’s Charity Wills Campaign.

Taking place across its offices in Fife, Dundee, Perth, Angus and Edinburgh, Thorntons won’t charge a fee for Wills written throughout November. Instead the firm asks clients to make a fee equivalent donation to Cash for Kids.

Thorntons Solicitors STEP Accreditation

Thorntons has continued to encourage its Private Client team to pursue training and development, as three more solicitors have recently passed their Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) exams.

Chris Gardiner, Stuart Mackie and Lisa Hainey are the latest to complete the STEP qualification, joining 14 others within the firm to have already gained the accreditation.

Cash for Kids receives £75,000 donation

A law firm’s annual charity campaign has reached a record milestone as Thorntons raises £75,000 for Cash for Kids through its Charity Wills initiative – a £13,000 increase on the previous year.
