Catriona is an Immigration Caseworker based in our specialist Immigration team. She works closely with the team’s specialist immigration solicitors to deliver a stress-free experience for clients making visa and citizenship applications.
Catriona will work with you throughout your visa application process to keep you updated, answer any questions and ensure a smooth process from start to finish. She is experienced in dealing with technical aspects of the application process, including completing and submitting your online application, managing supporting evidence, uploading supporting evidence through the Home Office’s third-party contractors and managing correspondence with Home Office caseworkers. Catriona can also help you navigate the ongoing digitalisation of the UK immigration system, providing assistance with eVisas and the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for travel to Scotland.
For businesses, Catriona specialises in assisting businesses with obtaining and maintaining sponsor licences to help them recruit and retain international talent. Having previously run her own hospitality business and with a decade of experience in the industry, she is well-placed to provide support on sponsor licences, immigration compliance and international recruitment for small businesses. Catriona also works closely with our Innovations team to provide a unique one-stop legal service for international entrepreneurs looking to start and grow their businesses in Scotland through the Innovator Founder and Global Business Mobility visa routes.
For individuals, Catriona supports clients with a wide range of personal immigration, including family visas, partner visas, settlement and citizenship. She works closely with Jacqueline Moore and Rebecca Engel-Morton on nationality cases, including double descent and other routes to citizenship for those with Scottish ancestry. She is also experienced in dealing with niche areas of immigration, including Windrush and the Ukraine schemes.
Before joining Thorntons, Catriona spent five years working for a Member of the UK Parliament, meaning she is experienced in dealing with urgent and complex immigration matters and can liaise with the Home Office on your behalf to quickly resolve any issues that may arise with your visa application.
