Based in our Edinburgh office and working with Morgan O’Neill, Naomi is a Data Protection Officer advising clients on all aspects of data protection compliance. She has extensive experience in advising on individuals’ rights, managing personal data breaches, conducting privacy impact assessments and delivering bespoke data protection training.
Naomi has in-depth knowledge on the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, and specialises in establishing privacy by design frameworks for organisations, including drafting all necessary data protection policies and procedures. She is passionate about implementing data protection compliance in a way that feels valuable to an organisation rather than a tick box exercise, and works closely with clients to understand how their organisation operates and find practical solutions to suit their ways of working.
Naomi qualified as a data protection practitioner in 2016 and obtained her advanced practitioner certification in 2021. Before joining Thorntons, she was the Data Protection Officer for an energy conservation company, and previously worked for a large banking group managing their subject access team.
