Michael is a Legal Director of DR&C in our Edinburgh office. With over 30 years’ experience in dispute resolution in the Sheriff Court, Court of Session and regulatory tribunals, he has extensive knowledge of debt recovery, insolvency, professional negligence, contractual and property disputes. including neighbour and landlord and tenant disputes. He also deals with alternative dispute resolution, including mediation.
He advises a wide range of clients from universities, SMEs and family businesses, to individuals, corporate creditors, and insolvency practitioners.
His approach is based on dispute resolution with a focus on strategic risk and reputation management. Where this is not possible, he will raise court proceedings and use his considerable experience to reach the best possible outcome for his clients.
Michael has experience in all types of civil procedure, including judicial review, but focusses on commercial procedure and alternative dispute resolution procedures. He also has significant experience in the use of diligence and asset recovery processes in debt recovery matters.
His clients appreciate his open and transparent approach, and he prides himself on building strong client and contact relationships.
Michael is a Notary Public, a member of the Royal Company of Merchants in Edinburgh, and is a youth coach for Spartans WFC.
