Lucy has practised exclusively in litigation and has specialised in family law for the majority of her career.
She advises clients on all aspects of family law, including the financial consequences of divorce, pre and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes and agreements, child law, and adoption. She has particular expertise in cases involving difficult financial issues, especially company and partnership valuations and pension sharing, and has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting complex Minutes of Agreement dealing with the disposal and transfer of business assets. She also deals with cross-border disputes.
Lucy also has significant Sheriff Court advocacy experience, including conducting all types of procedural hearings, Child Welfare Hearings and Proofs.
She is trained in Collaborative Family Practice and regularly undertakes collaborative cases. She is a member of the Family Law Association and of Consensus, the Scottish Collaborative Family Lawyers Group and is committed to the use of alternative dispute resolution wherever appropriate.
From 2011 to 2021 Lucy sat on the board of Scottish Adoption, a national adoption agency which delivers high quality placement and adoption services to anyone affected by adoption in Scotland and further afield.
