Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons has raised £230,000 for Cash for Kids throughout its two decade Charity Wills initiative for the charity.
Since 1996, when Thorntons first pledged its support, the firm has donated all of its fees from Wills created or updated throughout the month of September to Cash for Kids. And it is urging Taysiders to get involved again with this year’s campaign.
The charity supports hundreds of children across Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and North Fife, helping to purchase specialist equipment for children with physical disabilities, respite for families with a chronically ill child, and helps to fund play schemes and outings for young carers.
Last year, Thorntons raised a total of £25,000 for its Charity Wills Campaign.
One of the local groups to benefit from the funds raised during Thorntons’ campaign is The Inclusion Group. The Dundee-based group aim to offer more inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities and additional support needs. They used the Cash for Kids funds to kit out a computer room for their Zone project.
Murray Etherington, partner at Thorntons Dundee, said: “The support for our Charity Wills Campaign has grown year on year since it first launched.
“Thorntons is always overwhelmed by the support from clients for this campaign and we are delighted to be able to support a charity which does such vital work for children and families across Scotland.
“Our Charity Wills campaign is also a great opportunity to highlight the importance of having an up-to-date Will. Many people don’t realise how vital a Will is, especially when it can help avoid issues such as extra costs, delays and family disputes after your passing.
”We hope that in our milestone year, we can aim for another record breaking fundraising total.”
Lynda Sword, charity manager at Radio Tay, said: “We are delighted to be selected as the beneficiary charity for the Thorntons’ Charity Wills campaign again this year.
“We hope our Radio Tay listeners will really get behind the campaign and support the appeal.”
