Dundee-based sustainable cleaning product manufacturer and supplier, Ecoanolytes, trading as Dew, has secured six-figure investment, supported by Thorntons’ specialist Ventures and Innovation team.
The funding –£400k - will enable the business to progress its ambitious growth plans following increased demand for sanitising products amid the pandemic. The company, which retails directly to consumers, is aiming to grow the Dew brand across the UK and increase product distribution. Ecoanolytes now offers more than 30 products and have developed ranges for child care, pet care, home care and personal care.
Thorntons supported the investment round by structuring, navigating and ultimately completing the deal with the funding partner.
Based at West Gourdie Industrial Estate in Dundee, Ecoanolytes offers a 100% natural mineral-based cleanser and sanitiser using the power of electrolyzed water – hence the Dew name meaning Dundee Electrolysed Water.
Its innovative technology is highly sustainable. The manufacturing process produces no by-product or waster, while Dew’s refillable and reusable containers reduce single use plastic, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 5.18kg per container.
Erik Smyth, CEO and Director at Ecoanolytes said: “Over the last couple of years we have seen demand for our completely natural products soar. Containing no harsh chemicals, our products are more effective than alcohol and bleach and have recently out performed the worlds leading brand in cleaning on independent tests carried out by Eurofins in France.
“After increasing our manufacturing capacity to meet demand, our latest funding will support the next phase of our growth journey – which is to get Dew products into households all over the UK.”
Alistair Lang, partner and Head of Ventures and Innovation at Thorntons, said: “As a fellow Dundee headquartered business, we’re proud to have supported growth for a business on our doorstep. It’s great to see another dynamic, sustainably minded and Scottish-based business achieve success.”
